The origins of Crawford’s Gift Shop began with John Frederick “Fred” Crawford, Sr. and his second wife, Nora, in the 1930s. Fred’s first wife, Cora, prior to her passing in 1914, gave birth to a son named William. Fred and Nora then went on to have three more children: J. Frederick “Fred” Crawford, Jr. (whose family line continues to own and run the business to this day), Richard Crawford, and Anna Louise (Crawford) Smoke. When Fred, an avid hunter, would be away on exhibition, Nora stayed behind to raise their children and run the store.
After Nora’s death in 1952, Fred married his third wife, Florence. Known for her fiery red hair and hearty laugh, Florence also shared Fred’s love of hunting and made some additions of her own to their wildlife collection. Taxidermy of some of the finest local game from their travels across the United States was displayed at the Museum. In addition, a wonderful array of magnificent and unique specimens from many other parts of the world, such as Mexico, Canada, Alaska, South America, Africa, India, Norway, and the Arctic, were also placed on display.
Fred Crawford, Jr. and his wife, Dorothy, passed the business on to John Frederick Crawford, III and his wife, Nancy, who currently own the business and reside in Florida.

John and Christi Crawford got involved with the Christians Inter Alliance (CIA) Basketball Club 12 years ago. The family remains actively involved today, with their two eldest boys, J.J. And Carey, working as coaches for the program. Their youngest son, Tristan, is a player for the current CIA Basketball Club’s Boys Team.
